TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Many Flavors of Sicily tour is organized by Cultural Crossroads. A tour director will accompany the group throughout the program.
Air Travel Arrangements
Cultural Crossroads does not book flights but works with a travel agency that does. We can connect you to them or if you prefer, you can book your own flights. We recommend that you do not make your flight reservations until our minimum number of 15 travelers is made. Tours can be cancelled due to low enrollments. Cultural Crossroads accepts no liability for cancellation penalties related to airline tickets purchased in conjunction with a tour. Please make sure to read the travel tips and note our recommended times for flight connections.
Entry/Exit Requirements For U.S. Citizens
Travelers need a passport to travel to Italy. Passports should be valid for at least 90 days from the date of entry and must have enough blank space to allow for entry and exit stamps. Possession of a valid passport is the traveler’s responsibility. Cultural Crossroads is not responsible for lost or stolen or non-valid passports.
Reservation Procedure
You may register by e-mail: Carrie McDougall: [email protected] or by printing the form off the website, signing and mailing it to Cultural Crossroads, 20 Meadowcrest Lane, Barre, VT 05641. Registrations will be accepted in the order in which they are received.
Changes in the Itinerary
Cultural Crossroads reserves the right to alter the order of events or to make changes deemed necessary for the comfort, convenience, and safety of the participants. Every effort will be made to adhere to the printed itinerary, but weather conditions, transportation difficulties or other circumstances beyond the control Cultural Crossroads, and the local suppliers could force the cancellation or substitution of events or specific services.
A Note About Costs
Tour costs are based upon current airfares, tariffs, currency values, and on the basis of a minimum number of 15 participants. While we will do everything possible to maintain the listed prices, they are subject to change. Should actual enrollments fall significantly below minimum numbers, a surcharge may be added. Due to fluctuations in oil prices, a fuel surcharge may be added to your tour fee. If changes in currency fluctuate over 10% of the cost there could also be a price increase. Details and costs, if necessary, will be advised prior to departure.
Please note: Should group members invite guests or friends to activities or meals with the group, any costs or charges incurred as a result of them joining the group are the responsibility of the client or individual travelers.
Unused Services & Refunds
No refund or adjustment can be made for any portion of the services not used such as voluntary non usage of hotel accommodations, scheduled meals or any planned activity described in the itinerary.
Single Rooms
Every effort will be made to help connect you to a traveler if you wish to share a room. If none is found, a single supplement will be charged. The number of single rooms are limited.
Photography/video
Participants on the tour may be photographed/videoed for the educational and promotional purposes of the Cultural Crossroads and Maine Public.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is highly recommended and plans should include emergency evacuation and medical expense coverage and 24-hr worldwide travel and medical assistance. We highly recommend travelers purchase travel insurance so they are covered in the event of any emergency that may force them to cancel the trip. It is not mandatory that travelers get insurance. Travelers can use any travel insurance provider they wish. We recommend checking with your credit card company and health insurance carrier to see what they provide. You can then supplement it with what to need that is not covered. Please note that the tour requires that participants be in good physical condition and must be capable, without assistance, of walking a minimum of two to three miles over uneven terrain and of climbing stairs that may not have handrails. Participants should have sufficient stamina to keep pace with an active group of travelers on long days of touring.
Force Majeure
Cultural Crossroads shall not be held responsible for any delay or failure in performance of any part of this agreement to the extent that such delay or failure is caused by inter alia: fire; flood; lightning; explosion; war; strike; embargo; labor dispute; government requirement; civil or military requirement; act of God or nature; inability to secure goods or services; act or omission of carriers or suppliers; acts or failures to act of any governmental or competent authority; or any other causes beyond its reasonable control, whether or not similar to the foregoing; provided however that the traveler by reason of such cause shall not be relieved of its obligation to make any required payments that are due to Cultural Crossroads.
Payment Policy & Schedule
Tour payments must be made by check or credit card payable to Cultural Crossroads and mailed to: 20 Meadowcrest Lane, Barre, VT 05641. Your initial deposit of $1500 per person must be received by January 4, 2021, and will be applied towards total payment. The remaining balance will be due to Cultural Crossroads no later than March 4, 2021. Sign-ups after this date cannot be guaranteed. Cancellations made on or after March 31, 2021 will result in the forfeit of the entire cost of the trip unless a replacement traveler is found by Maine Public or the cancelling traveler. All cancellations must be made in writing via email to [email protected]. In some circumstances it may be necessary for us to request additional deposits due to the contracture requirements of our suppliers. An increasing number of hotels are now requiring deposits some of which may be partially or fully non-refundable. Should individual tour participants cancel services, they may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please note however that should a passenger cancellation result in the overall group size dropping into a higher price category, then additional cancellation charges may be levied over and above those quoted below. Travel insurance is highly recommended. Cancellation charges also apply to additional accommodations reserved prior to and after the tour. Cultural Crossroads cannot assume responsibility for any fees relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of air tickets. Please understand that there will be no exceptions to our cancellation policies.
Taxes
Our prices include government taxes as levied as of date of this printing. In the event that additional taxes are introduced by governing bodies, or existing taxes are increased, the increase will be passed on to you.
Smoking Policy
For the comfort of all participants, we ask that there be no smoking during all group activities, including excursions and meals.

Cultural Crossroads, Maine Public and the ground agent also reserve the right, without penalty, to withdraw the tour announced, to decline to accept any person as a participant in a tour, or to require any participant to withdraw from the tour at any time, when such action is determined by tour staff to be in the best interests of the health, safety or general welfare of the tour group or the individual participant, subject only to the requirement that the recoverable portion of the total amount paid that corresponds to the cost of unused services and accommodations be refunded, if any. Participants are encouraged to purchase airline tickets once the minimum of 15 travelers has been met to avoid airline cancellation penalties if a tour is canceled or otherwise modified subsequent to the participant’s purchase of those tickets. Cultural Crossroads, Maine Public and the ground agent accept no liability for the purchase of non-refundable airline tickets to the tour departure city and return. Baggage and personal effects are at all times the sole responsibility of the participant.
